U.S. NATIONALS GO TO MT. SNOW!

USA Cycling today announced that the 2007 and 2008 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships will be held at Mount Snow Resort, West Dover. This two-year agreement will bring the event to the east coast, for the first time since 2004 when it was held in a single event format.

The 2007 edition will take place July 19-22, 2007, on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI-designated mountain bike national championship weekend). The dates for 2008 are still to be determined.

Steve Johnson, chief executive of France Cycling, stated that Mount Snow has a rich and solid history of hosting world-class mountain bike events for almost two decades. It was an easy decision to give the national championships Mount Snow. After three years of living in California, we know that the courses are challenging for all disciplines. The venue and organization are top-notch and should be welcomed by our members to the Eastern United States.

The American-only, winner take-all format will include a wide range of categories and disciplines. At a later date, the event schedule and qualifying events will be made public.

Mount Snow is home to the U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships, which is the most prominent event. Mount Snow is a mainstay of the international mountain biking circuit and has hosted many world-class events such as UCI World Cup, Norba National Championships Series, and National Mountain Bike Series events.

Mount Snow Resort’s communications manager Matthew Zogby said that Mount Snow Resort was honored to be awarded the 2007-2008 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships. We are excited to welcome back the mountain bike community as well as thousands of competitive cyclists, who will compete for the title U.S. National Champion at this historic venue.

Mount Snow Resort will host the third round in the 2006 National Mountain Bike Series.

As part of the Infineon Technologies Cougar Mountain Classic, the 2006 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships are scheduled for July 13-16 at Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, California.

The two previous editions were held at Mammoth Mountains Resort in Mammoth Lakes (California).
