Whiskey Off Road Mountain Bike Event Adds Community Benefit Concert

PRESCOTT (Ariz.) – The Sixth Annual Whiskey Off-Road will kick off April 25. It is a endurance mountain biking event that is based in downtown Prescott, near Whiskey Row.

We are excited to launch the music section and send it into orbit, stated Todd Sadow, president at Epic Rides, Inc. It’s hard to beat the chance to spend a day on a bike, and then enjoy a night on the courthouse lawn listening to great live music.

Roger Clyne will be performing with the Peacemakers at the concert. Participants can choose to do yoga with a local instructor before the sun sets, and the party starts. The Whiskey route leads riders through Prescott National Forest, which covers 1.25 million acres. Prescott National Forest Service staff, local trail advocacy groups and the Prescott Cycling Club have created a network of trails that seem to go on forever. There are three distances that riders can choose from: the 15 Proof Fun Ride or the 25 and 50 Proof routes. These routes will appeal to more experienced participants. The Proof theme is a tribute to Prescott’s famous Whiskey Row, a block of bars and restaurants. A proof in this instance represents one mile. The concert is free and open to all. It will be held next to Whiskey Row. Participants are asked to bring two cans of food to donate to Yavapai County Food Bank.

Sadow stated that our goal is to raise literally a ton of canned goods between the mountain biking event and community concert. We are grateful to the community and the City of Prescott, for opening up the downtown common space. The event provides a healthy, low-impact activity that benefits the community and brings people to the city to increase their economy. It also raises money for those who are less fortunate.

The festivities begin Friday, April 24th with packet pickup and a mandatory preevent riders meeting at Goodwin St. in downtown Prescott. Saturday’s riding will start at 8 a.m. on Goodwin Street at Whiskey Row. The awards will be given out Saturday night at 4 p.m. immediately before the concert starts.

Sadow pointed out that the Whiskey-Off-Road was possible thanks to the support of Titus Cycles and Empire Power Southwest. High Gear Bike Shop, Prescott Alternative Transportation, and Yavapai County Food Bank were also beneficiaries.
